Saweetie Bartends at Holiday Pop Up Shop & Shows Us Love // Usher Celebrates Keyshia Cole and SWV at Brooklyn Concert // Kendrick Lamar Drops GNX Album & Dates for Stadium Tour with SZA + More

This last quarter of 2024 has been buzzing with celebrity news (actually the whole year has), almost everyday there’s been a wild headline from diss records and lawsuits, to the passing of Black greats in entertainment and renowned legends.

Can you believe we just lost Nikki Giovanni, after loosing the legendary Judith Jamison, Quicy Jones, DJ Clark Kent, Mister Cee, Fatman Scoop, Rich Homie Quan, Frankie Beverly, Wanda Smith, Cissy Houston, Tony Todd, John Amos, Dikembe Mutombo, Tito Jackson, James Earl Jones, Wally (Famous) Amos, Chino XL, Joe Bryant (Kobe Bryant’s father), Bill Cobbs, Willie Mays, Dallas Penn, Rico Wade, Louis Gossett Jr., Derrick King and O.J Simpson??!

But we don’t want to get too heavy in this post, it’s more about acknowledgement and celebrating each other while we’re here.

Which brings me to how much fun I had last weekend after hitting up Usher’s Past Present Future Tour at Barclays Center in New York City, meeting Saweetie at the Smirnoff x Saweetie Ice Holiday Pop-Up Shop in Union Square, and visiting the Ice Cold: Exhibition of Hip Hop Jewelry, at the American Museum of Natural History, a showcase of popular pieces owned and worn by industry artists.

Aside from an early celebration for my sister’s birthday, the Usher concert was special, because Usher is a phenomenal entertainer, and because he made it a celebration of Black Women, where we gave Keyshia Cole her much deserved flowers, and showed love to the Queens of 90’s R&B, SWV.

See my event recaps below.

I arrived at Saweetie’s ‘Sip, Shop, Slay’ Smirnoff Gift Shop just in time to catch her stepping out the truck, and my girl definitely came to slay….

After browsing the activation’s assorted candy display, gift wrapping station, and vibing with the DJ, I mingled with a former colleague who works with Smirnoff, before proceeding to take a photo with Saweetie.

My thought was just to say “Hi” and head out the museum, but Saweetie really took interest in our interaction, and even asked if she could have my eyebrows! LOL.

I’m smiling just thinking about it, ‘cause it really was sweet, genuine, and natural. Our energies must be in-sync because, I’ve always admired her #ICYGIRL message, marketing genius, and hustle in the entertainment industry.

Aren’t we cute?!

Wish I could’ve saw her bartending skills, but you know… had to go!

Post bottle popping at the gift shop, miss thang hit up Daniel’s Leather for a BIG MAMA Pink Fur Coat and Hat to match.

While there she shared foodie secrets with Mystery FashionistView their interaction on our Pinterest Page.

Okayyy West Coast… Cali in the building! #IKTR

Speaking of Cali, Kendrick Lamar is back to put on for his city, ter[or]rize his opps, and make his fans prouder than we’ve ever been.

K. Dot dropped a 12-Track album ‘GNX’ named after the 1987 Grand National Regal Buick, a few days before Thanksgiving, and we haven’t stopped streaming the project since. There’s literally no skips. Every song is hitting.

The album mostly features upcoming artist from L.A, and the Bay Area, but the two biggest tracks, luther and dodger blue feature TDE artist, SZA.

* Side note* Roddy Ricch can also be heard on dodger blue as well.

Clearly, Kung Fu Kenny is still riding the wave of his victorious rap battle with Drake (who’s currently suing Universal Music Group UMG for promoting Dot’s hit song, ‘Not Like Us’), because not only did he drop the surprise album, but he also announced a 21-stop stadium tour just days later.

Read the Drake vs. UMG lawsuit here. Louaistas’ YouTube channel details all the drama perfectly, catch up below.

While we’re on the topic of the GNX Buick, you might’ve seen Comedian / Late Night Talk Show Host, Jay Leno’s Garage YouTube series, where Leno reviews and drives his collection of old fashion vintage cars.

His ‘Brand New, Never Sold’ 1987 GNX Buick was featured in one of the episodes a few years ago. See video below.

It looks like Leno’s YouTube Channel is still alive and well, although some suspected he may owe a gambling debt, after seeing the recent bruises on his face.

Leno denies the rumors and maintains that he fell down a hill.

What do we know? All I can say is; be well Jay. Be well….

In other news, Cleotrapa (ex-bestie to Ice Spice), recently shared a wholesome moment with another December birthday girl, Nicki Minaj.

Appearing together on Instagram Live, Minaj allowed Cleo to freestyle, and shared some constructive criticism on how she can improve.

Remaining loyal to her supporters and fanbase, Cleo popped out at Telfar’s brick and motor store grand opening in SoHo a few weeks ago.

A host of other celebs supported the opening as well, including; Lil’ Kim, Angie Martinez, and Oprah Winfrey.

By the way, if there’s any Vintage girlies and guys reading this, CLOSED CAPTION x WELL ROUNDED are hosting a curated collab Holiday Pop-Up Shop in Georgetown, DC, opening today, December 12th until December 22nd.
