CBS Morning Honors My Great Grandfather, Sinclair Clark’s Legacy // Celebrating My Cousin’s Restaurant: Jada’s Jazz Cafe in Pennsylvania

Sinclair Clark Obituary in the ‘Overlooked’ Book Series by New York Times Obit Editor, Amy Padnani

I'm a little late with this post, but I wanted to shine a light on the accomplishments of two of my family members, one on my paternal side, and the other on my maternal side.

Last month, CBS Mornings shared the amazing accomplishments of my paternal great-grandfather , Sinclair Nathaniel Clark, during their Black History Month 'Overlooked' series segment.

I believe I wrote about my great grandfather previously on my blog, but I wanted to share the segment produced by CBS and New York Times’ Obit Editor  Amisha ‘Amy’ Padnani, who wrote about Sinclair in her ‘Overlooked’ book series (available on Amazon).

For those who may not have seen my prior posts; if you’ve ever visited the American Museum of Natural History in New York City or the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC, you most likely came across my great grandfather‘ Sinclair Clark’s greatest achievements.

An immigrant from Barbados, who came to New York in the 1920’s, Sinclair Clark became a skilled, and renowned Taxidermist-Tanner who was inducted in the Taxidermy Hall of Fame.  He contributed to tanning the skins of huge wildlife statues in museums throughout the world, including the infamous elephant Henry, currently on display in Washington, D.C.

Below are more press clips / photos my family curated and collected over the years.

Before we wrap Women 's History Month, I also wanted to highlight my maternal cousin Jauwrah Adams’ restaurant in Pennsylvania. Jauwrah's husband is a chef.

She moved her family from New York to Pennsylvania to care for her father and, unbeknownst to most, opened a family restaurant, which you can learn more about on her website, Jada's Jazz Café, and in the videos below.
